Slow Flow Waves

SLOW FLOW WAVES

I am so excited to teach at YTC community.  Join me for my Slow Flow Waves vinyasa practice every Wednesday at 3:00 pm CEST.

In this Slow flow Waves Vinyasa Class, I offer a slower mindful flowing movement, focusing on longer holds, conscious alignment, maintaining the breath and mindfulness meditation.

My Slow Flow classes are light and creative, but slower paced and gentler than my Vinyasa classes. Postures are generally held for longer periods, and the transitions between poses are a little slower. The more gentle nature of this class is great for beginners, but is also wonderful for intermediate and advanced students who feel like slowing it down and sinking deeper into their practice. So roll out your yoga mat and get ready to sweat! I would absolutely love to see your faces!  You’ll be amazed by what you can do.

A slow, mindful meditative flowing practice, focusing on a slower sequence, movement to breath awareness, slightly longer holds, conscious alignment. Slow Flow Vinyasa aims to ground down, clam and relax the body to create clarity and peace of mind.

Mixed level practice | No experience, to basic yoga experience is recommended.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Slow flow yoga incorporates a blend of Vinyasa (dynamic flowing poses) and Hatha (longer held poses).

The slower pace encourages connection of mind, body and breath and an opportunity to find mindfulness within the movement. Great for those who would like to build strength and stability, awareness and decrease stress levels, cultivating a sense of calm.

Class incorporates flowing and longer held Yoga poses that are standing, lying and seated. There is a mixture of gentle and more challenging poses, breathing techniques and meditation. Options will be given throughout the class, so that you can practice in your own way, making the practice suitable for everyone.

Together we will stretch to increase flexibility, and we will flow to better connect with our inner being and the breath.

The practice of yoga supports physical, mental, and spiritual development that allows you to create the best version of yourself.

Yoga may also be an effective tool to help you lose weight, especially the more active forms of yoga. And you may find that the awareness gained through a gentle, relaxing yoga practice helps you to lose weight as well.

Yoga and calorie burning
While yoga isn’t traditionally considered an aerobic exercise, there are certain types of yoga that are more physical than others.
Active, intense styles of yoga help you burn the most calories. This may help prevent weight gain. Ashtanga, vinyasa, and power yoga are examples of more physical types of yoga. These types of yoga keep you moving almost constantly, which helps you to burn calories.

While restorative yoga isn’t an especially physical type of yoga, it still helps in weight loss. One study found that restorative yoga was effective in helping overweight women to lose weight, including abdominal fat.

These findings are especially promising for people whose body weight may make more vigorous forms of yoga difficult.

How often should you do yoga to lose weight?

Practice yoga as often as possible in order to lose weight. You can do a more active, intense practice at least three to five times per week for at least one hour.
On the other days, balance out your practice with a more relaxing, gentle class. Hatha, yin, and restorative yoga classes are great options.

If you’re a beginner, start slowly and gradually build up your practice. This allows you to build up your strength and flexibility and prevent injuries. If you don’t have time for a full class on certain days, do a self-practice for at least 20 minutes. Allow yourself one full day of rest each week.
